Modern Suburban Ranch Home
Situated on a half acre lot in a southwest suburban community, this mid-century modern inspired home was designed to fit within the immediate context of its neighbors. The design was required to follow a restrictive covenant (design guidelines) set forth by the subdivision association. The interplay between simple geometric forms, planes, and light was in direct response to the home's orientation on a somewhat difficult corner lot to develop on. The careful exploration of materials, approved by the subdivision, proved to be successful and allowed this modern home to feel welcome in a community of otherwise stylistically conservative homes.
